SUMMARY:From Historical Maps to Digital Stories: Georeferencing and Digitizing with AllMaps and Mapwarper
DESCRIPTION:As proof of attendance\, Have; \n\n2 screenshots with your name visible (either show your name logged into your computer on split screen or log into canvas or your portfolio and show that).   \n\n1 with the date and time from the start of the session.\n1 with the date and time from the end of the session.\n\n\nTitle of the meeting or webinar visible in screenshots.\nYou will not get approved without the above\, no exceptions.\nYou need to stay the entire time and the time attended will be checked with the host.\n\nThis workshop bridges the gap between historical cartography and modern digital scholarship\, showing how to transform historical maps into interactive\, analyzable digital resources. Participants will learn to georeference historical maps using AllMaps and Mapwarper\, aligning old maps with modern coordinate systems to enable spatial analysis and storytelling. Attendees will explore how georeferenced historical maps can reveal urban change\, environmental transformation\, and social patterns over time. Ideal for historians\, geographers\, urban planners\, archaeologists\, and digital humanities scholars interested in visualizing change over time. \nThis workshop will be offered as an online session via Zoom. You must register for this workshop to receive the Zoom link via a confirmation email. On the day of the workshop\, use the link to join the session. \nPlease contact Felipe Valdez at felipe.valdez@temple.edu with any questions. \nRegister for Event \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nhttps://charlesstudy.temple.edu/event/16274589

SUMMARY:Introduction to Scientific Legal Mapping and Policy Surveillance
DESCRIPTION:As proof of attendance\, Have; \n\n2 screenshots with your name visible (either show your name logged into your computer on split screen or log into canvas or your portfolio and show that).   \n\n1 with the date and time from the start of the session.\n1 with the date and time from the end of the session.\n\n\nTitle of the meeting or webinar visible in screenshots.\nYou will not get approved without the above\, no exceptions.\nYou need to stay the entire time and the time attended will be checked with the host.\n\nThis training provides a broad overview of the scientific methods used to create data from laws and policies. These methods\, called scientific legal mapping or policy surveillance\, create data suitable for use in rigorous evaluation studies and in practice. Policy surveillance addresses the chronic lack of readily accessible\, nonpartisan information about status and trends in legislation and policy\, it provides the opportunity to build policy capacity in the workforce\, and it can speed the diffusion of innovation. Attendees to this one-hour webinar hosted by the Center for Public Health Law Research at the Temple University Beasley School of Law will learn the differences between scientific legal mapping techniques (e.g.\, policy surveillance\, legal assessments)\, the steps of the policy surveillance process\, and uses for the data. \nRegister here.
