Introduction to Prompt Engineering for Generative AI
From the LinkedIn Learning course “Introduction to Prompt Engineering for Generative AI (2023),” I gained a solid foundation in the art of creating effective prompts to direct generative AI models. The course reinforced the importance of precision and clarity when creating prompts—in the case of text-to-image models like DALL·E, where the more detail in the prompt, the better the quality of the result. One of the best parts was learning the distinction between zero-shot and few-shot learning, and how the latter can be applied to control AI behavior using a small set of precisely tuned examples. I also learned about how large models generate text, predicting successive tokens in context, and how high-quality data allows models to operate more effectively when given fewer directions. Overall, this course provided the capabilities to better talk to AI systems and implement prompt engineering practices in real-world business and artistic projects.
