Work Experience

Working for the General Nutrition Center has prepared me in being able to train others. As a company which is oriented around marketing, sales quotas and promotions you must maintain high sale averages. I am currently in the process of training the newest employee at my store which was a request given to me by my manager due to my sales techniques and meeting constant sales expectations. My ability to teach others was established early on in high school. I was offered a position within the Philadelphia School District to tutor children because of my standardized test English scores.

I have also been personally picked by the recruiter who enlisted me in the U.S Army to help him recruit others. My task was to report to high schools at career booths where I would explain the military, its benefits and collect information of those who were the best candidates. My most important role in all of this was to pick students who not only wanted to join, but specifically find information for those with high credential such as high GPA’s and special skills. At the time the military was reducing and trying to only recruit the best and brightest, it was my duty to make sure the people who we were contacting met the standards.

Payroll as well as benefit eligibility are also something I am not a stranger to. While working as a team leader for the women’s clothing company Mad Rag I had to make sure hours where fixed so that employee’s payrolls would be processed and benefits such as medical plan related issues were reported. At the end of each night I would have to adjust the time clock so that the payroll personnel could receive the information. I was also in charge of payroll signatures and issuing checks and making sure my store isn’t going over its issued hours. I also made packets for corporate to process once employees met the requirements for company benefits.
