My Experiences

Production Manager, Power Equipment Restoration LLC. – I have been working at Power Equipment Restoration from May 2013 to present. The work at this job consists of employees cleaning electronics after fire and water damage. My job there is organizing the inventory properly in the computer systems, conducting component replacement to electronics, and working onsite deliveries and pickups. On a job I talk to the customers and explain exactly what we do with the electronics and answer any questions or concerns they might have. Before the electronics get back to our warehouse, I take pictures of every item, record the serial number, model number, and brand of the items. Then upload the information to our servers for the items to be processed and cleaned. Once cleaned or repaired, I help pack and organize the items for delivery. On a delivery, I will set up the electronics back in the newly restored home.

Computer Science Intern, Clear Employer Services LLC. – Over my senior Fall semester and into Spring semester I worked at Clear developing a Health Wellness Client website in WordPress. This project was entirely my own project to work on. I developed all the front-end and found people that would be the best fit for the organization to help me work with the development and maintanence of the back-end functionality. This website takes a users age, height, weight, and sex to compute the users BMI and then will direct them to a page that falls within the BMI range that is assigned to the condition. The page that is given to the user then suggests ways for the users to diet, workout, and in some conditions seek help to get in shape. This Wellness site will be sold to clients as a cheaper alternative to a healthcare coach and will help Clear’s clients live healthier lives.

Student Government, Penncrest High School – I actively participated in student government, filling many positions as my high school career grew. Working alongside the other students in student government, we were able to raise more money than any class before. Working in the snack bar and raising money for nonprofit organizations has given me many skills in financial management and spreading awareness to achieve a goal.

Volunteer Facilitator of a Leadership Retreat, Penncrest High School – When I was in high school I was very active in the community through our student government. I attended a leadership retreat that worked on building leadership skills within my high school freshmen and sophomore year. There was a rule before my junior year that only students could go for two years. I was approached by, at the time, the high school faculty member who was in charge of leadership activities within the school. He asked me if I would like to return for a third year to help run activities to build the under classmen’s leadership the way I learned. That year was so successful at the leadership retreat that three other students and I were asked to return and help our senior years to keep teaching students how to be leaders in our community.

Basketball Camp Counselor, Mike Doyle Basketball Camps – I played basketball every year since fifth grade. Basketball was truly in my blood growing up. Being so involved with the basketball programs in my school district, I developed a good relationship with the head basketball coach in my high school. He knew who I was before I as even finished middle school, and when I was finally old enough to play for him, he presented  me with many opportunities to volunteer in my community. We would run camps for elementary school students at our local community center.  He also employs me during many summers to work in camps at my old high school.

Visited China for a school trip – I took a class in mandarin Chinese and was offered the opportunity to visit China. More specifically I visited Beijing, Xi’an, and Shanghai. In these cities I learned about the culture more in-depth than any class would be able to and saw many great wonders of these cities. I learned about their schooling and the differences between cultures in each city. This was a once in a life time experience, and one that I am truly grateful for getting the opportunity to have.

Volunteer Web Page Designer, PATC member – I have taken a few java oriented programming classes along with one web page design class. Programming and web page design were two topics that I have always been interested in pursuing. I was blessed with the chance to test my web page design skills when a former teacher of mine came to me with an opportunity to create a web page for an organization she belonged to, which rents out cabins along the Potomac Appalachian Trail. I worked on the page by collaborating with the members of PATC via emails and through my teacher. They finally liked what I had come up with after five months of work, aside from my school work. They posted the page but after a few more months they decided to sell the cabin that the page was dedicated to and had no more use for the web site. Although the site was taken down, I come away with many skill sets and a knowledge and responsibility of working with an organization. They constantly wanted me to change small details to fit and perfect their image. Working with them, using patience and communication, the web page came to life and I was very proud of it. This was truly one of my most memorable experiences.
