Arts
I have been surrounded by the arts for as long as I can remember. I delve into all genres (classical, jazz, pop, country, house/techno, rap/hip-hop, swing, rock, ethnic, etc.) of music. I have played piano since the age of 5, been apart of numerous choirs, and played the alto saxophone since the age of 8. I am currently teaching myself to disc jockey, as I enjoy the art of mixing music, and the crowd interaction one receives–it’s just so vibrant–at events keeping the energy going. I also enjoy frequenting museums of all sorts; some of my favorites include: American Museum of Natural History, Please Touch Museum, Adventure Aquarium, MoMA, and the Franklin Institute. I also enjoy attending Broadway musicals to date I have seen Chicago, The Lion King, Wicked, Hairspray, and Cirque Du Soleil: Wintuk. When I am not visiting museums, watching musicals, or frequenting music concerts/festivals; I’m in the kitchen. I have a passion for cooking that is deep routed in my family. I love experimenting in the kitchen! Baking and cooking are some of my favorite past times; it’s a great stress reliever and a great way to entertain friends/family.
Sports
All throughout elementary and high school I’ve participated in many sports; besides martial arts, practically anything with a ball I’ve most likely ventured into. I have always enjoyed playing sports more than watching. However I do attend sporting events often; as I love rooting for my favorite teams and the ambiance that comes with it. I believe playing sports or even watching will teach you the fundamentals of teamwork and the importance of everyone being able to support each other as well as themselves. My Favorite teams include the Yankees, Jets, Chicago Bulls, and the Temple Owls of course! HOOT HOOT!
Travel
Traveling is my other passion, I hope to one day travel the world and experience as many cultures as possible. So far I’ve been to several states, Haiti and the Dominican Republic. I love traveling; it’s a great way to learn about people, culture, and language. It also helps you appreciate differences and realize how boring this world would be if we were all the same. A few key destinations of mine are Anguilla, Cape Verde, Croatia, Australia, and several European and African nations.
Current Events
If I’m on my phone I’m most likely catching up on the latest news feeds. I like to know what’s going. It’s important in today’s world to be on top of the events occurring within the world and locally. I also like to stay on top of new music/upcoming artists, trends, recipes, festivals and more. Some of my favorite news sites/blogs include CNN, Food channel, Business Weekly, Travel Channel, Forbes, Pigeons&Planes, and Buzzfeed.
Involvelment
I am an avid volunteer/donator. I like helping out and being apart of things with significance for the greater good. Since moving to Philadelphia I have partaken in several volunteer activities. Some of my favorite were: Fringe Arts Feastival, Mayor’s Office Waste Watchers, and Big Bothers Big Sisters Mentor Program. I am currently working on opening a Food Recovery Network chapter at Temple as well.
