Mapping and Data Visualization with Python
The sponsoring organization for this event, Mapping and Data Visualization with Python, is Temple University. This workshop was guided by Felipe Valdez, who clearly went through, step-by-step, how to construct interactive maps and visualize geospatial data using Python. During this session, I learned how to build web-based maps that are able to handle large datasets. In addition, it taught me how to import data from various sources, use interactive widgets to explore data, and create time-series visualizations while utilizing tools like pandas and geopandas. Furthermore, I learned how data can become meaningful and how mapping tools can assist in data storytelling as well as for analysis purposes. This relates to my MIS coursework and career goals because it strengthens my skills in Python and analytics, and overall helped me display analysis more effectively in the business realm.
