Reading and Learning
Reading and learning about different cultures and their history has always been an enjoyable passion. I came to the United States went I was 12 years old, and although back in those days I spoke Spanish very fluently, I always do research and read more about the different types of cultures the Dominican Republic consists of and how the Dominican culture and the American culture are being portrayed around the world. I have read books and researched online about these topics, and I realized that there is not much of a difference between these cultures. Although the research shows some similarities between both countries, I believe each country have their own unique quality within their culture that differentiates each other’s.
Dance (Zumba)
I love dancing, but to be more specific I love Zumba. Zumba is something that helps me release all my stress and anxiety throughout the day. Zumba helps me feel less stressed and anxious, while also staying in shape and having fun. Zumba provides physical and mental benefits and it can be practice by anyone that loves dancing and working out like me. I think, in some way, Zumba taught me to eat healthy and exercise more because is something that benefits my health and body.
Spending Time with the Family
Family has always been very important to me, since I always give credit to my supporting grandparents and mother for always encourage me to keep doing the right thing. As a college student is always hard to find time to be with the family. So I make sure that when I have the time, I take advantage of that time to talk to them, check how they are doing, and to ask for any advice that will keep me encourage and motivate in school. Without their help and advice, I’m not so sure where I’d be today.
