In large cities like Philadelphia, students interested in STEM fields are often at a disadvantage. Many public and charter schools lack the resources to enable these future scholars to pursue their interests and succeed in college and beyond. Often times, the support of a mentor can be the difference between these students succeeding or giving up on their dreams.

Inspired by the mural, “Life tried to bury us, but we are the root and the seed,” Root + Seed’s mission is to foster meaningful interactions between students and STEM professionals in the Philadelphia area through a mentoring matching platform. In this way, we can help to grow those STEM dreams into a reality.
