As a Market Research Analyst Intern, I shadowed and worked alongside the Market Research Analysts on my team. Working in the Health Division of Kantar, I was hands-on with data from different client projects, spanning across a plethora of health-related subject matters. Also, I was responsible for quality-checking data reports, using multiple Microsoft Excel documents to cross-check and verify the data.
I worked on several projects in different stages of the process, analyzing the data at various touchpoints. I learned the full process of client projects from intake to completion. As my individual final project, I researched a healthcare industry topic and presented my findings to the team.
As I learned in my Management Information Systems classes and other data-driven classes (ex. Statistical Data Analytics), data is extremely prevalent and critical in all areas of business. With my internship, I witnessed the extensive use and collection of data from a company’s perspective. Also, I used my knowledge from my Introduction to Management Information Systems class to better understand the daily business processes and operations of the company. Overall, I learned how to apply my Microsoft Excel skills to different tasks, based on a client’s needs.
