Leadership and Recognitions

In addition to taking great pride in my education and course work, leadership roles are very important in my life because I enjoy taking the opportunity to take charge of a group and work with others for a common goal. To be a successful actuary, one must have excellent communication and teamwork skills, and I believe leadership roles in SPO’s and any other facet will help me improve the aforementioned skills.

 

Leadership                                                         

-Director of Fundraising, Business Honors Student Association    (Spring 2013-Spring 2014)

• In this role, I led a committee of my peers to develop fundraising ideas that allowed us to fund the professional development events such as guest speakers and workshops. Similar to a work environment, I would work with this committee to generate our best ideas or perform the taks assigned, and then report up to the other officers and executives within the organization. Finally, this role taught me to manage day-to-day tasks while also focusing on the long-term fundraising goal that we were aiming for.

-Speaker, Experience Temple Day

• Because of my previous role as director of fundraising, I was given the opportunity to speak, along with a few other officers, to accepted students who are potentially entering the Fox Honors Program. This allowed me to hone my public speaking skills, and taught me how to deliver a message clearly and passionately to get others to understand the points I was making.

-In addition to these university leadership positions, I was also President of the National Honors Society and Captain of the Varsity Baseball Team in High School. I am continuing to seek opportunities similar to these as I progress through my collegiate years.
