MS in Digital Marketing Hot Topics Series: AI and Healthcare Marketing

I attended a virtual panel discussion called “AI Revolution in Healthcare Marketing: Opportunities and Challenges,” organized by the Fox School of Business at Temple University and led by my current marketing professor, Jennifer Sundstrom Fitzgerald. The event featured industry experts, including Joyce Ercolino Archinow, Senior Director of Customer Engagement at Harmony Biosciences. The discussion focused on how artificial intelligence is changing healthcare marketing by helping organizations analyze data, personalize engagement with patients and providers, predict behavior, and improve marketing performance in real time.

One of the speakers, Darshan Kulkarni, talked about how we need to be careful when using AI because it can cause harm if used the wrong way, especially in healthcare. He explained that marketers should always understand their audience, put their needs first, and use AI as a tool to help—not to replace—human work. I really liked his point that empathy and understanding are still important because AI doesn’t have feelings or human insight.

Overall, I found the webinar very interesting and informative. Even though marketing isn’t my main area of study, it helped me understand how AI is impacting almost every industry, including business and technology. I learned that while AI can make work more efficient and creative, people still play the most important role in making real and meaningful connections.
