Career Interest and Aspirations
As far back as I can remember I have always had an interest in people. I have worked in the retail side of Customer Service for ten years and it has been very rewarding. When I was trying to figure out what I “wanted to be when I grew up” everything started to make sense. I knew I loved people. I also knew from my work experience that “back office” type work was something I was really interested in. At that moment I realized that being an HR professional would be the right fit for me.
Everything from recruiting, training, on-boarding, and benefits really sparked my interest. Once I began taking business courses I always found myself applying what I was learning into HR context. I would ask myself questions like “How would this affect an organizations culture?” or “What could have been done to avoid the firing of an individual?”.
After obtaining my Bachelor’s Degree I look forward to starting my HR career journey. I aspire to be a strategic partner to a company. I am interested in the ins and outs of a business and being a vital part of creating a company-wide culture and overall enjoyable work environment. I also plan to go back to school to obtain my Masters Degree in Risk Management. My long term goal is to be a Human Resource Consultant and aid companies with benefits planning and structuring.
