Philly Foodworks: Data Analytics Projects

Communications Analysis Project:

A recent project I’ve done during my internship at Philly Foodworks is an analysis of how effective our current communications are with subscriber. For some background on this project, every subscriber has a preselected subscription box based on what food is available from vendors that week. The preselected box highlights items that Philly Foodworks has either a large quantity of or are considered staples of the season. Subscribers can adjust these boxes by swapping out preselected items for items that they prefer. If a subscriber updates their subscription, an email is sent to Philly Foodworks. For the data below, I researched an email parsing software that I could set up a custom trigger for, and then automatically update an Excel spreadsheet. From this communications data, we found that the current customer communications emails being sent out were not in line with peak subscriber update times, although they still had a relatively high open-rate. This means that the customer communications are not having the desired impact on subscriber behavior because they’re not being sent out during the times when subscribers are most likely to act on them. The simplest fix to this is to change the time and day of the week communications are sent out to be in line with the activity of the subscriber base.

The pdf below is a snapshot of the data used – Most of the analysis involved private information on customers and is therefore excluded from this document.
