Vibecoding Workshop
The Speaker, Keith Gutierrez from the mis department, taught a Vibe Coding Workshop where he introduced us to the concept of “vibecoding” a practical approach to building customized software without extensive knowledge of coding. The session explained how many people rely on tools that don’t fully fit their needs and how vibecoding offers accessible frameworks for app development. During the workshop, Professor Gutierrez explained how he uses vibecoding and AI to keep track of his vending machine business. He also showed us his process of using vibecoding to create an app to help neurodivergent children function with an interactive scheduler. I learned how vibecoding and AI can be used to creatively design real world solutions. Although the actual vibecoding does not directly relate to MIS coursework, the critical thinking involved in vibecoding is the same critical thinking used in writing javascript or python code. The presentation also aligns with my career goals in the AI and ML field.
