AXA XL

Actuarial Intern, June 2020 – August 2020

AXA XL, formerly known as XL Caitlin, is a Property & Casualty insurer and a special risk division of AXA. AXA XL works with mid-sized and multinational companies to provide traditional and innovative insurance solutions. 

I was positioned as an Actuarial intern for the North American P&C division. I learned about actuarial trends and pricing factors for insurance claims. I also created a peer pricing tool for the Umbrella insurance on Rshiny dashboard that pulled data from SQL servers and Excel data. In addition, I worked with the Data Intelligence & Analytics and Change management team. I learned worked on projects that included project management, change management, DEEP delivery, data ecosystem, and dashboard creation with UI/UX design. 

 

 

 

BITE Inc.

Customer Relationship Manager and Intern, September 2017 – May 2018

Bite Inc. is a tinder-style food app that helps the user find his or her next meal. The app provides a feed with pictures of dishes with reviews and prices. The user can either swipe left or right depending if he or she wants to save the dish for a potential future meal. The fun concept and my love for food attracted me to the start up, and I started working for them as an intern. 

My primary role was social media outreach. I used social media platforms such as Instagram to contact social media food influencers that would help promote the app. After getting promoted to the Customer Relationship Manager title, I researched and contacted over 50 restaurants in Philadelphia by specific regions, such as University City, Old City, and Rittenhouse Square to target the customer base. Additionally, I invited restaurant representatives to Bite Night, the promotional launch night of the Bite app.

Y2 Academy

Teaching Assistant, May 2019 – August 2019

Y2 Academy is the #1 SAT Score program that guarantees at least a 320 point increase in the students overall SAT score. I went through this rigorous program as well, and I did meet the guarantee. I also scored a perfect score the math portion of the SAT. I started working for them as teaching assistant to monitor test taking, check homework,score the tests, relay the information to the teachers, and schedule meeting with the parents. 

On a daily basis, I communicated with over 60 students and 10 teachers to determine scheduling and reports on the students’ scores. After collecting all the data onto the Y2 database, I exported the scores onto Excel and organized the data. I presented the data so the parents and students could easily track the progress.

Crab and Claw Seafood Inc.

Cashier, May 2019 – August 2019

To be transparent, this is not the official logo for the Crab and Claw that I worked for, but the concept of a seafood restaurant/market is the same. Crab and Claw serves a broad variety of seafood which includes shrimp, lobster tails, fish, and its famous Maryland blue crabs. It has many other types of shellfish and fish to satisfy anyone’s seafood cravings.

I worked at Crab and Claw as a cashier from open to close. Opening was at 9:30 am and closing was at 10:00 pm. Throughout the day, I interacted with over 100 customers and completed over 100 cash and credit transactions each shift. My main priorities were communicating orders to the other workers, completing the monetary transactions, and closing the registers.

Mirim Japanese & Korean Restaurant

Waiter, May 2018 – August 2018

Mirim is a restaurant in Levittown, PA that serves Japanese and Korean Cuisine. This small local restaurant strives to bring a great dining experience for both old and new customers. It attracts the locals with its great lunch special prices and its unique BYOB policy. Its a great place for casual outings, family gatherings, and experimental dining. 

My waiting job at Mirim was my first customer service job, and I learned how to interact with customers within intimate settings such as dining experiences. Out of my comfort zone, I made many mistakes, but I can say, I learned a lot from them. I improved tremendously over the course of the summer, and I was invited back to work for the next summer.
