Flash Research Paper – Share Point
Our company has the opportunity to save $1.8 million over a three year period by investing in new software. Microsoft SharePoint will help us improve our document management by allowing us to share, access, organize, and manage information collaboratively.
Microsoft SharePoint is a software tool that has many features including document management. The document management features of Microsoft SharePoint allow users to share documents and keep track of different versions of one document. Users can access SharePoint by using their web browser. The documents uploaded to SharePoint can be organized and managed from one place. Each SharePoint site has a separate container for documents which will allow us to create a SharePoint site to manage the documents for each of our customers. The documents and folders can be shared with different levels of access which will allow us to control who has access to certain information. For example, using Microsoft SharePoint will allow us to collaborate with our clients while sharing and managing documents from one location.
Currently, our PMPs waste $666 thousand of non-billable hours each year on managing documents, instead of creating value for our clients. SharePoint will allow each PMP to regain 400 billable hours per year. We can regain those non-billable hours with a $100 thousand purchase of software and hardware for Microsoft SharePoint. One of our PMPs is a SharePoint expert who will use 190 hours per year for SharePoint administration. While our costs would be $136 thousand, our ultimate net benefit for the SharePoint investment will be $1.8 million over a three year period.
