Interests and Hobbies

Growing up right outside the city of Philadelphia, I fell in love with the city and all the sport teams.  Even though I love all sports teams my favorite has to be the  Phillies.  As a child, all I wanted to do was play baseball and watch the Phillies.  I try to attend as many games as possible each season because I love the atmosphere and I just love seeing the Phillies win.  Growing up, sports was not just entertainment, it was a learning experience.  From playing all different kinds of sports when I was younger, they taught me the importance of hard work, self-discipline, motivation, and that winning isn’t everything.  What sports taught me was the fact that if you wanted to get better in something you have to work at. I was not going to get better magically overnight and it was not just going to come to me.  From all the training and dedication I put into playing sports, I feel I have become patient yet eager to succeed in everything I do.  Looking back now, I am thankful that I had coaches who truly taught me the meaning of hard work and dedication because now I can apply that attitude towards my future career.  With everything that sports taught me, I am confident that I  can truly accomplish anything when I set my mind to it.
One of the biggest hobbies of mine today is going and enjoying a round of golf.  About four years ago, I decided to learn how to play golf because it looked interesting and it was a different sport than I was accustom to.  Arnold Palmer once said that “Golf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated” and he was right about this.  It took me awhile to develop the right technique to play golf but I enjoyed it every step of the way.  Golf taught me to be patient in life and it taught me if I kept working at something, I will get better at it.  Some may believe that golf is a game of stress, but to me it relieves my stress and I feel as long as I am out on the course it will be a good day.
Outside the world of sports, I enjoy travelling around the City of Philadelphia and learning about its historical history.  I find it interesting in learning about the past because it is the foundation on how the city of Philadelphia was built.  There are so many historical places and popular tourist attractions to travel to throughout the city.  The places that I enjoy the most is the Franklin Institute, The Philadelphia Art Museum, and the Reading Terminal Market.
