Friendly’s Restaurant
Position: Dishwasher, Cook, Lead Cook
Friendly’s Restaurant was established in 1935 and is located only on the East Coast in the United States. There motto of providing quality food at a fast and friendly manner has been their motto for generations. I started working at Friendly’s when I was sixteen. I started out as a dishwasher but because of my success driven attitude, I was promoted within three months to a cook position. As a cook, I was responsible for fulfilling food orders and stocking all the different stations throughout the kitchen. After another six months of working as a cook, I was promoted again to lead cook. As a lead cook, I took on more responsibility. I job tasks included overseeing the other cooks in the kitchen, making sure all health codes were met, organizing the walk-in freezer and refrigerator, and stocking all stations in the kitchen. I enjoyed taking on these tasks because they all gave me sufficient knowledge on the inventory aspect of supply chain management.
Staples, The Office Supplies Superstore
Position: Sales Associate in the Department of Office Supplies
Staples is a leading provider of office supplies throughout the entire world. They are located in over 26 countries and have over 2,000 stores. As a sales associate, it is my job to help the customer in locating any product that staples supplies. I assist the customer with purchasing an item whether it is in the store or online. It is also my task along with my fellow associates to organize our back storage facility and transport products from that area to the sales floor. On a biweekly basis, I deal with loading and unloading pallets of inventory into our storage area. I am then responsible for breaking down those pallets and putting the products away in organized manner. Since working at Staples, I have gained a knowledgeable background in the area of inventory control. I have dealt with over thousands of SKUs, different inventory problems, and organization issues. I also have an extensive knowledge of AS400, which is the online inventory data base Staples uses. Through my past experiences I feel I am ready to take the next step in the area of Supply Chain Management.
