My Experience
UPS
For three years in a row I have worked as a delivery helper for various driving routes in Doylestown and Jamison. I assisted the driver with commercial and private drop offs to businesses and regular homeowners. I operated the Diad which is the GPS system in which the driver operates his route. UPS has a designed system to save gas and only make right turns. In peak season the number of packages, doubles so it is important to not only stay vigilant on making sure everyone receives their total order and placed appropriately on their property.
Austin Briggs Paint Store
This past summer I had the opportunity to work at the Austin-Briggs in New Britain, Pennsylvania. I had to teach myself and learn their various products. Knowing the appropriate technique for the project being done was very important. Some paints had special qualities such as ability to be put on direct to metal or had a low v.o.c. (volatile organic compound) which essentially means it wasn’t toxic and had no smell. A few of the long time customers were contractors which were on account meaning we would bill them only at the end of the month. This is where i gained most of my knowledge they would tell me stories of their experiences with customers and about how certain paints turned out. Knowing their preferences was the key to keeping them happy that and the ability to patiently explain to customers why things turned out the way they did. Heat and sunlight has a major effect on the longevity of the job looking good this along with endless other facts allowed to gain a lot of incite into the business and practice of painting. I established and proved myself trustworthy with the customers and the contractors which made them be even more open to me.
Zalucki Painting
From high school to freshman year of college I worked full time and odd hours when needed at my dads family business. In the beginning starting off I would prep and caulk all necessary components on the job site. That means one scrapping loose paint jobs or sanding most of the time to do the correct job. As you scrape all this loose material and grime off it allows for a good base in paint application. I was restricted from painting at first from high profile clients. Gradually I moved my way up to painting emergency fire escapes and shutters. Once I had proven myself as a talented painter I began houses and garages. I went on many houses and various businesses from summer to summer. Stopping only when their was an opening at the paint store.
