Identity & Access Management Intern

  1. Information about the organization (e.g., type, size, location, specific division/department in which you are employed)
    1. This is a company in the healthcare industry. I worked at the Chesterbrook location here in PA. I worked in the Information Security department within the Identity & Access Management team.
  2. Job function (e.g., overall role, assigned tasks)
    1. I worked on various projects. I learned and utilized Powershell to script and extract data from our Active Directory. I then performed analysis on the data depending on what needed to be done. I was in constant communication with IT folks and Relationship Managers to gather data for applications. I also tested a mobile application that is in house.
  3. Examples of projects (e.g., list the projects you worked on and what you accomplished)
    1. AD Cleanup – Analyze data on users that was queried to help clean up user accounts. Successfully reduced the number of red flags and I will be continually working on the process.
    2. Customer IAM Assessment – Contacting RMs and IT folks to gather data on AmerisourceBergen applications to later use to implement IAM solutions. I also ran meetings to communicate requirements.
    3. Mobile App Testing – Tested an in-house mobile app and communicated bugs.
  4. What you learned and how it relates to your major (e.g., describe what you learned from this internship in the context of specific courses).
    1. In the Enterprise IT Architecture class at Temple, we learned about Active Directory. This directly relates to what I worked on relating to Active Directory. I was able to apply the knowledge gained from the course. I learned Powershell and used it to pull info from AD, and then I analyzed it accordingly. In the Digital Design/Solution Studio class, we learned how to gather requirements and take the role of a BA. I was in constant communication with RMs and IT folks trying to gather data, and was reading through documentations such as technical requirements. All of what we did in this class was reflected in my internship work. Overall the two of these courses strongly related to what I did and learned during my internship.
