Tax Associate Intern, CWF, January 2021-May 2021
The Campaign for Working Families (CWF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping low-income households reach economic empowerment, offering services including free tax preparation, credit counseling, financial education, and information about public benefits. As a Tax Associate Intern, I committed over 200 hours to assisting CWF clients in filing their taxes, generating thousands of dollars worth in refunds. Some of the responsibilities I held included interviewing clients, entering data into the tax filing software, TaxSlayer, and reviewing the information to ensure accuracy. I quickly moved from my role as an Advanced Tax Preparer to becoming a certified Quality Reviewer. I communicated with clients the final results of their taxes, guiding them through any technical difficulties, and I directed them to resources that would increase their refund amount or to financial assistance programs.
