Volunteer Experiences

Volunteer Experience

Spring 2010: – Organized & led a volunteer group to teach Information Technology classes to the Shanghai fire-brigade to introduce them to modern computers & Internet to promote fire safety.

Summer 2010: – Assisted a number of Stanford alumni to conduct medical research in Hong Kong.  The purpose of the research was to compare the ratio of primary school children with the strength of their eye-sight.  Hence I spent a week in Hong Kong assisting the school children with the computer tests for eye-sight during the day.  During the night I helped enter the results and document the findings.

Summer 2010: – Several school colleagues and I went to Yun Nan Province and spent several days with some disadvantaged students. We talked about Shanghai – the food, the people, the lifestyle etc; We answered each other’s questions and we showed pictures to each other.  I was most surprised to find that although our cultural backgrounds were very different – we were still very similar in our goals & aspirations.

Summer 2011: – Organized an introduction presentation for the Nan Yang Model High School 2011-2012 new student intake.

Summer 2011: – Captained and won the 2010-2011 “Nike Cup” High School Basketball League.

Winter 2011: – Was a key organizer & participant in the 110-year anniversary of the Nan Yang Model High School.
