Fox Peer Teacher in MIS 2502: Data & Analytics
During the Fall 2025 semester, I served as a Fox School Peer Teacher for MIS 2502: Data and Analytics, a program sponsored by the Fox School of Business to support sophomore- and junior-level students while helping upper-level undergraduates develop strong teaching and leadership skills. I dedicated about twelve hours per week to instructional support, with the weekly study session serving as the core and most impactful part of my role. During these sessions, I independently taught key topics, created instructional slides, designed practice exercises, and facilitated interactive discussions to help students strengthen their understanding of SQL, Python for data mining, and analytical methods such as decision trees, clustering, and association rules.
Beyond the study sessions, I held three weekly office hours to address individual student questions and provide one-on-one guidance. I also built and maintained an online resource website, continuously updating materials based on student feedback. In addition, I attended every class session with Professor Bauman to provide real-time support during lectures and hands-on activities, assisting our students with technical challenges as they occurred.
This experience greatly enhanced both my technical abilities and professional competencies. Teaching weekly sessions improved my communication skills and helped me learn how to explain complex concepts clearly while adapting to different learning styles. I developed a standardized lesson-planning workflow and gained practical experience running a service-oriented online platform. My classroom involvement strengthened my facilitation, mentoring, and instructional design abilities, while repeated troubleshooting deepened my mastery of core analytics techniques. Balancing preparation, teaching, and support responsibilities also improved my leadership, time management, and adaptability.
