Using web technology to help students practice before the exam
I work as a Peer Tutor on the Knack platform. A student once told me about his troubles. They did not know how to review before the exam and hoped to have exercises beyond homework to test whether they have mastered the relevant knowledge points. So I plan to make a mock test webpage to help them review.
On October 23, I announced to my students on Knack that an online mock test would be held on October 26. One day before the start of the plan, I completed all the work, including option selection, timer, saving the test results to the local. A total of 3 students took the test that day, but there were more students who were unable to take the timed mock test at the scheduled time, but they reviewed on their own at other times through my website. The feedback from the pre-exam mock test was good. I received replies from two students who said that this review was very useful and they were satisfied with their performance in the Fin3101 midterm exam 2.
I have gained valuable insights from developing this project, especially in independent project management and applying MIS skills to real-world scenarios.
To improve the website, I plan to focus on several enhancements:
- Expand Content: Gradually develop more units and modules to cover additional topics in Fin3101, providing students with a comprehensive set of review options.
- Enhance Interactivity: Add features like real-time feedback and explanations so students can immediately understand correct answers and explanations after completing exercises.
- Improve User Experience: While aesthetics were not the initial focus, I aim to refine the interface for a more engaging and user-friendly learning experience.
- Add Data Analysis Tools: Implement a simple analytics feature to help students track their performance trends, identify weak areas, and focus their review more effectively.
