Cox Servant Leadership Symposium

January 2014

Education

The Joseph T. Cox Servant Leadership Symposium was established in the summer of 2010 with a generous leadership gift from an alumnus to honor Headmaster Joe Cox’s strong and visionary leadership of The Haverford School. The Symposium attracts successful leaders from different arenas of professional life to share their stories and thoughts about leadership with Upper School boys, instructing and enlightening them about the value of servant leadership and its importance in preparing them to be positive leaders with lives as engaged and honorable citizens.

January 9, 2014 the event included American author, businessman, and US Army veteran, Wes Moore. The theme around the event was based on Moore’s book, “The other Wes Moore”. A panel of four people led the discussion about the book. The panel included, Jerome Allen (University of Penn’s head basketball coach), Shani Moore (Wes’ sister and Entertainment Lawyer), Justin Brandon (Wes’ best friend and Upper school director of Moorestown Friends School), and myself.
