Ziyi (Iggy) Zhao is a PhD candidate in Management Information Systems (MIS) at the Fox School of Business, Temple University. Her dissertation focuses on “Code, Create, Collaborate with Algorithms for Innovative Knowledge Work.” She is an AIS Entrepreneurial Innovation Fellow, supported by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.
Her research areas are AI (Artificial Intelligence), DI (Digital Innovation, Transformation & Entrepreneurship), and SI (Social Impact of AI and DI). She uses mixed methods (econometrics, experiments, machine learning, type-aloud, etc.). She is dedicated to building tech that matters, for impact that lasts.
At Temple University, Iggy teaches MIS 0855 Data Science (instructor evaluation 4.87/5.0 from 41 students), focusing on data visualization, big data analytics, machine learning fundamentals, and Generative AI. Her class teaches the industry-standard visualization tool Tableau, for which she is a Certified Tableau Desktop Specialist, awarded by Tableau in 2020.
Iggy has served as a reviewer of over 80 manuscripts for journal submissions at Information Systems Research, Internet Research, Information Technology for Development, and Industrial Management & Data Systems and premier conferences in Information Systems and Management, such as ICIS, CIST, AOM, HICSS, AMCIS, PACIS, ECIS, and many others. She serves as the editorial board member of Information Technology for Development and the mentor in the AIS SIG DITE mentorship program.
Iggy’s work targets both top-tier academic journals and influential practitioner platforms such as the Society of Information Management (SIM). Iggy has been awarded more than $50,000 in research funding.
Iggy will enter the 25-26 job market and aims for a tenure-track assistant professor position at research-intensive institutions.
