Alliance Bank is an integrated financial services provider in Malaysia that offers banking and financial solutions to consumers, small & medium enterprises, corporate & commercial banking, investment banking and stockbroking businesses. The company accepts savings, current, fixed deposits foreign currencies and business accounts. The company also offers personal loans, mortgage financing, share financing, and investment lending services; business and trade financing services. Alliance Bank has over 85 branches scattered around Malaysia which includes bank branches, regional offices, investment banking centres, share trading centres, business centres and privilege banking centres. I was employed in the Rehabilitation department as a Rehabilitation Officer from 1st June 2017 to 30th November 2017
- Job function
I played a role in entering and restructuring customer’s personal loan when they are enrolled in the banks new financing plan. Furthermore, I verify customer’s personal details and reviewed documents, as well as correcting, deleting or reentering data from the bank’s database. I also had to delete any duplication of data on bank’s database. Moreover, I was also tasked with answering the telephone lines, where I had to resolve any issues that customer’s have as well as calling customers about information regarding their financing plans.

I took part in the bank’s AKPK project team that deals with an agency called AKPK which is appointed by the National bank that provides financial education, counseling and advice on financial management and debt management programs. As a part of the team, I was responsible for customer’s that has a personal loan with the bank and has since consulted with the AKPK agency that wishes to have their loan restructure in order to have a better financing management.
- What you learned and how it relates to your major (e.g., describe what you learned from this internship in the context of specific courses).
During my time with Alliance Bank, i was mostly tasked with entering data, maintaining and organizing the bank’s database. I had the amazing opportunity to work alongside a database analyst who has guided me on the standard procedures on what to do and not to do. Through this experience i have learned a lot about how the IBM Host & Asccend database work. I was also able to improve my skills on Microsoft office Excel as I had to frequently logged outgoing and ongoing data.
