Work Experience

Business Technology Risk Management Intern

At TD I discovered my IT field of interest was ultimately information security. As an intern I assisted on risk assessments for the business applications within the bank, researched and determined the classification for the customer or employee data contained within the application, and provided excellent communication skills to keep my superiors updated and informed. I was also responsible for determining whether third parties doing business with TD had information security policies that were in line with TD and industry standards. I also worked collaboratively on a stretch project to develop an intuitive, centralized SharePoint site to act as a directory for all the risk management process references for my team.

Marketing and Research Analyst Intern

One of the most valuable experiences I’ve had was the opportunity to grow my soft skills while working in an industry where interpersonal skills make or break how successful you are. I demonstrated excellent client service and business development practices while assisting a financial planner with new client acquisition, marketing research for business growth, and account and client management. I was also responsible for researching and investigating available investment opportunities to fit into the financial plans of the practice.

IT and Programming Intern

My first internship was a great introductory experience into the IT world that gave me direction as to where I wanted to go with my degree and what I would have to do to get there. At the law firm, I assisted with integrations between our company’s case management software and third party companies by gathering and organizing data for data mapping using MS Excel and MySQL workbench. I was also responsible for coding legal documents to pull variable case information from our database using Apache OpenOffice, which allowed our legal team to improve the rate at which they would generate documentation for the legal process.

Customer Service Associate – Paint Department

For two summers during college I learned to work independently with increased responsibility and decreased supervision as we were often under staffed. I assisted with the processing of approximately $12,000 per day through coordination of home renovation projects for customers. I was also responsible for department organization which included standardizing product locations and managing stock levels, and supervised training of new departmental employees on product knowledge, safety regulations, and protocol.

Cashier

Beginning my sophomore year and working throughout high school, I developed a strong work ethic and the ability to manage responsibility from an early age. I processed on average more than $10,000 per day in credit card, cash and check sales via point of sale terminals, and also oversaw and educated new cashiers throughout their training.
