Professional Development Activities
Active TDAP Member:
Throughout the fall semester I attended 4 TDAP meetings and learned about multiple programming languages, their functions, and benefits to business. At conclusion of the TDAP membership, I completed online courses in ‘Learn ReactJS: Part I& II’ through CodeAcademy. These meetings and courses helped expose me to new coding languages and helped expand my coding knowledge.
MIS3506 Digital Design & Innovation Professional Achievement Points Assignment:
For 3506 we utilized interviews with a client to elicit requirements for final deliverables to present the best possible solution in the form of a JustinMind prototype and accompanying documents to explain our goals, and objectives to solve the problem described. To earn additional points I had to evaluate a former jobs task that was not being executed to its fullest capability and use JustinMind and the topics discussed in class to create a solution to that inefficiency. I choose to create an online ordering app for bars and clubs to place with the distributor for delivery orders online to reduce human errors and miscommunications. I had to deliver a JustinMind prototype, a scope document, the use case, and a data schema to explain the final deliverable.
Fox IT Career Fair:
This past semester I was privileged to attend the 2017 Fall Fox IT Career Fair, where I was able to meet awesome representatives from companies such as EY, Pfizer, Cigna, and a personal hometown favorite Crayola. I was able to learn and hear about different career paths my MIS degree can take me and what some of the steps I would take are. I really gained a deeper understanding for how much IT is imbedded in every industry and how many of them rely on the jobs done by their IT departments.
