MIS 2502 – Data Analytics

  • In 2502, I’ve learned how to analyze data and how to present insights from business data. I was able to analyze, model, and design database solutions for organizations and was able to create data models and data warehouses based on business rules. Last but not least, I’ve learned how to operate and manage a database system and learned SQL.

MIS 3501 – Data-Centric Application Development

  • In 3501, I’ve learned to develop web-based applications using high level programming languages such as PHP. I’ve used debugging techniques to identify errors and make improvements. I’ve also learned how to interpret system specifications and explain technical components. Thanks to 3501, I am now able to create simple data driven applications that connect with a database.

Spring 2018 (Completed)

MIS 2501 – Enterprise IT Architecture

  • In 2501, I learned to assess information technology such as computer hardware, software, systems, and networking. I also learned to manage usage, security, and general issues related to laptops, desktops, operating systems, servers using Microsoft Azure. I also learned about new computing platforms and how they create business value. Thanks to this class, I am now able to evaluate new technologies and business models of the ecosystems for new digital products and services.

MIS 3506 – Digital Solutions Studio

  • In 3506, I learned to translate business needs into technology enabled solutions. By working with Tapp Network, I’ve learned to interact with clients, collect requirements, model processes and data, and design solutions to the client’s problems. I learned how to scope a project and compile the associated set of business rules and learned to utilize a number of design frameworks (Justinmind) and structured techniques for creating innovative solutions.

MIS 3502 – Application Integration and Evaluation

  • Learned to use concepts of application integration to develop data driven software applications. Learned the fundamentals of designing a system architecture for an n-tier application. I also learned how to integrate existing applications to produce new capabilities such as embedding Google services. I am also able to better identify the technical and process issues of integrating a new application into the existing application structure. I am now able to relate software components such as middleware to the overall information architecture and apply software components to create client and server based applications.

MIS 3535 – Lead Global Digital Projects

  • I learned how to lead, plan and manage technology-enabled, process-centric projects by focusing on initiating, planning, executing, controlling and closing projects in the context of topics such as integration, scope, timing, cost, quality, human resource, technology, communications, and risk and procurement. I was able to experience first hand the impact of the human element and how important it is to the success and failure of information systems projects. I learned how to monitor project plans and communicate status reports to clients, and create and respond to request for proposals.

Spring 2019 (Completed)

MIS 4596 – Information Systems Integration

  • While working as a team in MIS 4596, I learned hard skills like coding in Python, and leveraging advanced features in Excel and Google Spreadsheets. I also learned how to evaluate and compare proposed projects based on requirements and technology, as well as how IT organizations are structured. Finally, I learned soft skills like how to communicate efficiently with other teammates, manage deadlines, and mediate and resolve conflicts.
