Major: Management Information Systems
Graduation: December 2018
Thank you for taking the time to look at my eportfolio. I am a senior transfer student in the Fox School of Business, and commute from Bucks County.
I chose Management Information Systems as a major mainly because I like to be the connection between the IT world and business. Communication is my strong point. I would like to start my career as a Business Analyst and eventually work my way into UX Design.
During the summer of 2018, I worked at a small business and technology consulting firm DecisivEdge. This exposed me to a multitude of fields within MIS including Business Analysis, Project Management, Quality Assurance, and IT Architecture. Due to the size of the firm, I was expected to generate value in my internship. Therefore, I was given tasks to complete that were presented to the client. These duties included creating work flow diagrams, data flows, and a project plan. Furthermore, I performed manual test cases and identified application feature differences between operating systems. To add technical experience, I researched and documented IT Architecture solutions for our client. With one of the vendors I hosted a meeting to answer IT System questions to better guide the client, and created a small proof of concept of that solution.
Through this experience I learned I enjoy the business analyst role, and being able to provide help to a client. Eventually I would like to work closer with UX Design as I enjoy technology, design, business analysis, and psychology.
This Fall semester I plan to update this ePortfolio regularly to reflect the events I am attending. There are handfuls of technology and business events in Philadelphia I would like to attend, and will be posting my thoughts on those events in the future so place stay tuned!
