Assistant IT Specialist at EWMI

Environmental Waste Minimization Inc. (EWMI) provides environmental cleanup services and management of generated waste all across the country. They have been in business for 20 years with their main office located in Northampton Pennsylvania and another office located in Bakersfield California. Throughout my time spent at EWMI I worked directly with a new software program called Enviro-Ware to help track where the environmental waste starts and finishes. Originally, EWMI was using an outdated software program to keep track of their customers and waste disposal. It was my job to learn how the new waste disposal software worked and integrate it within their company. My tasks consisted of:

  • Data entry of company information and waste profiles for different jobs.
  • Configure hardware such as printers to support the new software in order to properly print necessary documents and labels for the appropriate jobs.
  • Work alongside EWMI employees to consider any customization within the software to better suit their needs.
  • Relay necessary information to the Tech Support Staff at Enviro-Ware to add any customizations or make any edits to the software tailored to EWMI’s business.
  • Train EWMI employees on how the new waste management software works along with teaching them how to generate reports and documents for necessary jobs. I conducted these training sessions in both the main office in Northampton, PA and satellite office in Bakersfield, CA.

Throughout my time spent at EWMI I learned the importance of communicating with EWMI employees and tech support associates from Enviro-Ware. Working together to finalize the required information and implementing alterations necessary to suit EWMI’s needs. This allowed me to understand components required to meet business needs and apply changes to the new software they will be utilizing. The hands on experience provided me with the necessary skills to work within a real time business environment. It was satisfying to know the work I completed was actually being applied to the day-to-day business. My efforts will aid in helping EWMI run a more efficient and effective waste management program for themselves and their clients.
