Throughout my schooling at Temple, I have been well prepared for a career in IT. I was introduced to the MIS major through the Data Science course, an MIS GenEd. In this class, I learned some basic data analysis techniques and how to present data in an attractive and easy to understand way. I also used data analysis tools such as Tableau and learned how to utilize Microsoft Excel to clean data sets.
As I continued my studies, a class that has heavily impacted my desired career path is Digital Solutions Studio. This class allowed me to work as a Business Analyst and participate in a case competition with a client. Over the course of the semester, I worked in a team of six to develop a solution for a mail administrator application. I learned how to document a project, gather business requirements from clients, and articulate the business needs to those building prototypes or software. At the end of the semester, my team’s solution was chosen as the winner of the case competition. I really enjoyed this class and hope to pursue a career in Business or Systems Analysis where I can apply the skills I’ve acquired through this course. I am currently enrolled in Enterprise IT Architecture, where I am learning how to incorporate modern technologies into existing business practices, and how this integration results in value for companies. To see examples of my coursework from this class, click here.
