SAP
My Experience at SAP
From May to November of 2018, I had the opportunity to work at SAP in Newtown Square, PA. I was placed in the Center of Expertise which acts as both a service provider and business innovation enabler for on-premise and cloud environments. This experience exposed me to a variety of product offerings within SAP’s portfolio such as SAP Predictive Maintenance and Service (PDMS), an Enterprise Asset Management application.
Selected Projects
As well as gaining hands-on experience with SAP products, I developed a wide variety of technical skills during my 6-month internship. I was initially tasked with optimizing pre-existing SQL HANA scripts. I used a variety of testing methods to determine inefficiencies in the code and used my prior knowledge as well as internet resources to improve the script’s weaknesses.
I was then tasked with improving the process of uploading historical data to SAP’s IoT Service Cockpit. Using prior knowledge I gained from my coursework, advice from coworkers, and many trips to Stackoverflow, I began to solve the problem. What initially started as a script quickly turned into a full user interface that utilized many python packages, JSON calls, and messaging protocols such as MQTT and HTTP(REST). The final product was an application that was able to read massive amounts of historical data from a csv file, analyze several configuration inputs, and send the data to an SAP application based on the inputs.
