EY – Risk Advisory Internship

ey

In summer 2016, I interned at Ernst & Young in their Risk Advisory Program. In my internship, I engaged in IT auditing work, assessing our clients’ risk controls on project teams of 5-10 people. I completed manage access, manage change, and termination testing in order to assess their risk control and IT processes, working heavily with Microsoft Excel. I also interviewed our clients and our internal risk assurance teams in order to conceptualize and outline clients’ IT processes and application relationships, documenting them via Microsoft Visio and also as control walkthroughs. I also engaged in data center visits, with one other co worker, across the northeast United States to complete SOC reporting work for a client in the telecommunication industry; this took place over the course of two weeks, where I had to work with the rest of my team remotely.

From my internship, I not only learned many technical skills relating to the work, but also gained experience working with clients, maintaining time management, collaborating with and across teams, and learning on the job. By asking the right questions, I learned how to do previously unperformed work in the most efficient manner, but also with quality.
