Here are information and assignments to help you prepare for the upcoming Business Skills for IT Auditors session on Saturday, March 5, 2017, room 237 Alter, starting promptly at 9:00 AM. We will end at 4:00 PM
Our topic for this coming class is: Leadership Presence. We will be Discussing the IT Auditor as a leader, a change agent, a dynamic force in an organization, someone who responds to what the situation demands. Keynotes include:
- Looking and sounding like a leader.
- Motivational Balance: instilling purpose, growth, and ownership.
- The Cycle of Leadership: Listening, building alliances, injecting vision, and achieving the mission.
- Proposing and Implementing Change: The IT Auditor Perspective
- A Leader’s Point of View: What leaders look and sound like
- Responsive Leadership: the 4 leadership styles and their uses
- Building and Maintaining Credibility: Being perceived as someone who can be believed and believed in
Here are your assignments:
- Be on time for class. Lateness, leaving early, or absence will be factored into your participation score which can affect your semester grade.
- Essay. A 2-page, 650-750 word opinion piece. This essay will discuss three items: (a) your top leadership strength (suggestion: use your DISC results); (b) the leadership characteristic you most want to develop in yourself; (c) what makes (a) and (b) important to you as a leader in your field.
Email this essay to me in Microsoft Word before March 4. Also, have this essay available in class, either in hard copy or on a device or laptop. - Bring you DISC results with you to class.

- Read through the following chapters in Your Voice Is Your Business: 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and be prepared to discuss the 5 intentions of communication.
