TECDP Full Time Associate

  1. Cigna is a global health services company with more than 40,000 employees worldwide. The company is headquartered in Bloomfield, Connecticut, but also has other offices in various locations around the US, as well as abroad. I will be joining Cigna as a TECDP Associate in the Philadelphia office starting in the summer of 2019. The TECDP, or Technology Early Career Development Program, allows associates to explore different roles within IT as part of a rotational program. The specific division/department I will be starting in has yet to be determined, but being in the program will allow me to take on different positions and potentially work in various lines of business over the course of three years.
  2. My overall role and assigned tasks have not yet been decided, but as I go through the rest of my senior year, I will have the ability to speak with managers to consider different role options. Doing so will allow me to determine what position will be the best fit for me when I join Cigna this summer. Though my official role hasn’t been determined, being in the TECDP will enable me to shape my career path by leveraging opportunities for professional development and gaining expertise in both IT and business.
  3. My job as a TECDP associate relates to the MIS major in many ways. The TECDP is focused on helping associates develop in-demand IT and business skills, whether that be generalist competencies, technical competencies, or some of both. My experiences in MIS as an undergrad also focus on these areas. The MIS curriculum has allowed me to explore the more technical aspects of business through coding, analytics, and IT architecture classes. Furthermore, I have also developed a strong understanding of the relationship between business and IT through project management and business analysis classes. At Cigna, I will be able to leverage what I have learned in MIS courses to work as a liaison between technology and business and will also be able to refine my skills and shape my career as I go through the program.
