My Interests

Outdoor Activities

If I can be in the great outdoors, that’s likely where you will find me. I am always be looking for an opportunity to go camping or backpacking near or far. I love sleeping in nature, preparing my own meals over a fire, hiking, climbing, kayaking, and other outdoor activities; challenging myself with new hiking routes or more austere packing lists for long trips engages my body and mind, gives me a sense of personal fulfillment, and makes me feel at peace.

Music and Recording

When the seasons aren’t so permitting, I’m more than happy staying inside and creating music. I play a variety of stringed instruments and have a comprehensive, yet modest, home recording studio that I can use to develop my own audio tracks.

Fitness

Maintaining a good level of physical fitness is not just a requirement for me – it is also a conscious desire with never-ending effort. It might be a result of training indoctrination, but working out is an excellent and enjoyable way for me to blow off steam. Whether the work is done with weights, on a bike, or in a pool, I find it gratifying to measure and evaluate progress I make and to experience the benefits that fitness gives me in my everyday life.

Reading and Discussing

As far as interests go, I love to read, research, and discuss my favorite subjects that are not in the scope of my undergraduate studies: international relations, politics, finance/economics, and history. Since I was a young teenager, my level of enthusiasm for these topics has never faltered – to me, they are enlightening, engaging, and extremely relevant/important to every person in the world.
