EisnerAmper Internship
EisnerAmper is a mid-sized regional accounting firm that offers accounting, consulting, and tax services. Their clients range from financial institutions to start-ups, as well as not-for-profits and family offices.
I interned at EisnerAmper in the spring semester of 2014 (busy season) as an audit intern where I went to clients in the real estate and not-for-profit industries. As an intern, I was exposed to writing up memorandums, testing the existence of transactions, making sure that the clients’ internal controls were in compliance with SOX, and testing that research grants were used appropriately. In addition to audit work, I also prepared taxes for clients. I was mostly involved in the returns of high net worth individuals, but got some experience with trusts and S corporations.
The software used to audit the clients and to prepare client tax returns was CCH Prosystem fx, a software suite used by smaller public accounting firms. While working at a smaller firm had its drawbacks, the
