Course Work

Data-centric application development

In this course I am gaining hands on experience in developing web based applications using PHP, HTML, MySQL, and CSS. This class has prepared me as a developer to feel comfortable writing code and running applications. I could use the skills I acquired in this course to do anything from creating patient portals, to building web applications for small businesses.   

Data Structures

In this course I learned how to create and apply various data structures in Java. This includes, Array lists, Linked Lists, Tree’s (binary, Huffman, etc.), Recursive Algorithms, Big-O Analysis, Sets and Maps, Graphs, Stacks, and Queues.

Enterprise IT Architecture

In this course I built out a virtual network using windows VM’s on Microsoft Azure. I created a domain control, workstations, a file server, an SQL database server, a network monitor, and a IIS server. This network is fully functional and can host a public domain for PHP applications. In addition, I created user groups, mapped drive files, and implemented logon scripts.

Mathematical Concepts In Computing I

In this course I am learning critical information of the mathematically theory that dictates of computer programs can run. Known as “Discrete Mathematics” this is a arithmetical theory class designed to teach students the mathematical logic that guides programs.

Data Analytics

In this course I have learned about database architecture and process from capturing data to data analysis. This includes transactional database structure and analytical data stores. I Created ERP diagrams and database Schema, as well as completed extensive work in MySQL workbench, creating databases and querying data. We also covered important topics such as OLTP, OLAP, data analytics and visualization.  This class has directly prepared me with the skills needed for many IT roles such as database administrator, and database architect.

Statistical Business Analytics

In this course I learned and applied the fundamentals of statistical modeling. Topics included random variables, discrete and continuous distributions, estimation of parameters, and hypothesis testing.

 

Information Systems in Organizations

In this class I was introduced the a wide array of topics regarding information systems and management in organizations. I learned how to map business processes through tools like swim lane diagrams, and I did extensive work with tool like salesforce.com

Data Science

In this course I was introduced to the concepts of data analysis and how data is used by organizations. Through this course I gained hands on experience with the software Tableau.
