HackPSU Fall 2019

Sponsoring Organization: Penn State Information Technology

Hackathon at Penn State University Business Building from November 2nd to November 3rd

I gained experience working with a team that had varied knowledge in coding, so I needed to create a plan in order to delegate tasks for less experienced members such as working on the html of the web-page while members with more advanced knowledge focused on the background scripting using JavaScript and electron. We tried to create a game that operated from one server (such as a personal computer) while the players used their phones to remotely trigger events within the game. The game was intended to involve some users inputting words and having to combine what other users input to create the best combination. I tried working in making a database to take in the words as my main objective. The project unfortunately fell apart late in the night as we realized that only one of us had the knowledge to actually accomplish the bulk of the work and trying to teach others in the time allotted would be just as inefficient.

This work directly related to the work in JavaScript that I have had to do in both MIS 2402 and MIS 3406.
