Fox IT Career Fair – Fall 2016
In the fall of 2016 I got the chance to attend the Fox IT Career Fair. This was an event exclusive to MIS students and gave attendees a chance to talk to representatives from many different companies. The event is different from other career fair from the fact that it is exclusive to the MIS major. In most other career fairs you usually have to explain your major to the recruiters and what positions you are interested in. But almost everyone at this event was related to IT in some way and they knew all the students were MIS majors, so it cut out a lot of that explanation in the beginning. I was able to talk to a few different companies, and not just in a general way or topics, but on more technical and IT topics too.
IBIT Group Meeting with Industry – Spring 2016
In the spring semester of 2016, I was chosen to attend a small group meeting with Rich Brennan. He was receiving an award later that day at the IT Award Show for distinguished alumni. Getting to talk with him and the group was a great experience. Rich was leads Spencer Stuart’s North American Information Officer Practice, so he knows what it takes to make it to the highest levels of IT. He talked to us about his background and how he got where he is. He also gave us valuable insight into the industry.
