IT Auditor Intern
For my time at Accume Partners, I was working as a Project-Based IT Auditing intern. During our audits, we ensured that financial institutions complied with federal regulations, such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, by implementing a set of general IT controls. These acts stated that financial institutions must protect customer data, and to ensure this we reviewed company policies, previous IT related audits, and performed testing and walkthroughs of the Company’s IT environment / workplace. Based on our findings, we would make suggestions to the Company on how to improve their IT security and report these findings to the relevant regulators. I am very grateful for my time at Accume, because I learned about how cybersecurity works in a corporate setting. I also learned how to create informative and formal reports, how to analyze company systems, and learned about tools such as Nmap and Nessus. Most importantly, I made some amazing connections that have already helped me progress my career.
