Summer 2021 Internship
This summer, I had the honor of joining Welcome America Inc. as a Sponsorship/Marketing intern. It felt amazing watching our hard work and long hours come to life through the Wawa Welcome America Festival. Our sixteen day in-person festival began on Juneteenth, with various types of family-friendly, educational events held all over the city of Philadelphia, closing with our July 4th Festival and Fireworks at the Mann Center featuring Bebe Rexha and Flo Rida. During the internship, I communicated and negotiated with companies to acquire sponsorship for the 16-day festival and worked with organization’s top 20 – 25 sponsors to determine desired promotional requests. As an intermediary for both the Sponsorship and Marketing Team, I managed sponsorship marketing deliverables to ensure companies are featured throughout social media, emails, brochures or other agreed upon initiatives. I also provided administrative support to the Vice President of Sponsorships and Community Impact, Amanda (Kaster) McDowell, a fellow Temple Owl.
