Business Services and IST Winter Intern at Heritage Family Credit Union
During the winter break of 2016-2017, I was able to partake in an internship at Heritage Family Credit Union that let me work with both the Business Services team and the Information Systems and Technology team. While working with the Business Services team I helped update and track current loans using programs such as Symitar and Miniter. I also learned how to file risk reports and complete annual pipeline reviews. Lastly, I help create and set up a share point for the Business Services team. So now all their spreadsheets can be accessed across all computers. While working with the Information Systems and Technology team I worked on learning how to record member and employees technical problems and then how to go into different programs (Netteller, eBill and the firm’s application) and debug them. I learned the importance of speedy resolution, especially when dealing with the Credit Union’s eBranch. I also learned about different types of IT Fraud that we have to keep an eye out for and how to detect and report them. Lastly, I was fortunate enough to sit in on both a Business Services and IST team meeting. This internship was very helpful to both the IST side of MIS, as well as, the business side. I really learned how IST gets incorporated in small financial institutions like this one.
Heritage Family Credit Union is a Vermont and New Hampshire based financial institution. Its headquarter is located in Rutland, Vermont and was founded in 1956. It has 44,000 members across 9 branches and holds $437 million in assets.
