  1. Name of sponsoring organizations:
    • The Collective Success Network (CSN) –  A volunteer-run Philadelphia-based nonprofit that supports first-generation and/or low-income (FGLI) college students to achieve their academic and career aspirations through empowering mentorship, professional development, networking, and leadership opportunities. They provide resources, social support, and encouragement to help them to reach their full potential at school, in the world, and in the workforce.
    • WSFS Bank – A financial services company. The largest and longest-standing locally managed bank and trust company headquartered in Delaware and the Greater Delaware Valley.
  2. Details of the activity:
    • Location: WSFS HQ, 1818 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA (Zoom available)
    • When: February 18th @ 10-11am
    • 2 Finance Workshops : FGLI students learn about Money Management, Personal Finance, and Credit.
    • Networking : FGLI students have the opportunity to network with professionals from CSN, WSFS Bank, and various organizations in the Philadelphia Area.
    • Connecting : FGLI have the opportunity to connect with their fellow peers from the 3 CSN students chapters: Temple First, Drexel First, and Penn First.
  3. What I learned:
    • Money Management, Personal Finance, and Credit from WSFS Bank
    • The experiences, skills, and advice from experienced professionals, mentors, and educators
    • The life experiences of the workshops’ attendees
  4. How the activity relates to coursework or your career goals:
    • Learning how to manage my finances and credit will allow me to become a better professional. I would be able to diversify my earning potential, negotiate for better offers and salaries, be a stronger job applicant (as companies may run credit score checks), and walk away from toxic work environments.
    • I will be able to utilize the knowledge I have gained from my FOX Accounting and Finance courses in the real world.
