2021 RSM Campus Automation Challenge

  1. Name of sponsoring organization: RSM
  2. Details of the activity (e.g., where, when): I participated in the 2021 RSM Campus Automation Challenge from April 1st-15th, 2021 virtually. During this two-week challenge, I and four other university students collaborated to create a bot which utilized Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to automate database management tasks. More specifically, these tasks included data retrieval, analysis, filtering, and verification. Our team was called the BotBusters and 3/5 members, including myself, were from Temple University.
  3. What you expect to learn:  I was assigned the role as Documentation Manager of the BotBusters and I learned how to utilize my technical and business skills quickly, especially since we were competing with other teams across the US and had only 2 weeks to create our bot. In addition, I learned important organizational and cultural information about RSM, their mission and values, how to be an efficient consultant, how to properly create documentation, and how to break down more complex technical concepts for a less-technical audience to understand. Most importantly, I learned how to work in a virtual environment efficiently, maintain open communication with students who also had busy schedules and were not in the same time zones, and execute my assigned tasks promptly.
  4. How the activity relates to coursework or your career goals: This experience landed me a Consulting Internship with RSM for Summer 2022! I strive to become an excellent Tech Consultant and want to contribute in society through my love for technology and business. I had so much fun learning about Artificial Intelligence (AI) and automation in a fast-paced virtual environment. This challenge really pushed me to do my best under pressure, especially as it was during the school year while midterms were happening.
