Customer Operations Intern at Broadview Networks

 

Broadview Networks was founded in 1996 as a regional telecom company and has recently expanded to the cloud. Broadview Networks is a national provider of cloud-based solutions that include voice, data, and internet services. As a customer operations intern I assisted project managers by looking through pending projects and assigning an “aging order reason” to them. These reasons were then separated into categories for higher management to review and analyze. I definitely saw the connection between the internship and coursework in my MIS classes. I also assisted with rescheduling projects based on project scopes and notes. I also assisted the finance team by confirming revenue reporting dates so that revenues can be reported accurately on the company balance sheet.

Throughout this internship I learned that not everything is “black and white”. There are different ways to interpret everything and sometimes it is best just to go with your gut. For example, when deciding what “aging order reason” I should give a project, there would often be times when two choices could be the correct one and at that point I would just go with my gut and choose the one that made the most sense. Also, I learned that it is not bad to ask questions and get opinions on everything. Everyone was always willing to help and I wish I utilized their knowledge a bit more. Overall I enjoyed my experience at Broadview because it gave me an inside view on how businesses work and how every single department works together to accomplish company goals.
