Web Mapping for Non-Programmers: Create Interactive Maps Without Code
I participated in an online workshop focused on learning uMap, an interactive no-code platform for building maps. It was hosted by Felipe Valdez. I had no prior knowledge of uMap and was able to learn plenty from Mr. Valdez. The session started with introducing us to the platform and core features. We explored key features that were available to unauthenticated users (anonymous users), including designing custom maps, editing points, lines and polygons, and methods of importing data. This workshop highlighted to me the accessibility of no-code mapping tools. It reinforced my understanding that many free, user-friendly digital tools provide a low barrier to data visualization and storytelling.
