I completed volunteer work at Stonewall Links golf course. I have been working at Stonewall Links during the summer since 2019 doing landscaping work, nothing IT related. I have always found their website to be lacking some necessary information that I encountered in my day-by-day and thought it needed some minor changes to include this. After contacting and meeting superintendent Dan Dale, we agreed that a page needed to be added to the site to provide information on tournament events. There are on average 5-10 major tournaments that take place on the course in a given year, so this page would only need to be updated every so often. The addition of this page will benefit both the club and the members, with the club getting more publicity and praise, and the members having easier access to information about tournaments.

Stonewall Links has a custom-made webpage created by a web developer, rather than a template-based site such as WordPress, so this was an interesting learning experience for me. I have created basic sites on my own from scratch with HTML vand used tools such as WordPress, but this was my first time actually working with complex HTML code and having to modify and add to it. There was a bit of a learning curve, which is why it took me a little longer than expected to complete. I was given a set of guidelines to follow as well as a theme (ie. fonts, colors, etc), and after a couple of revision meetings with Dan Dale, I was ultimately able to provide a finished product that is currently published on their website.

The title is that of the event, rather than something along the lines of ‘Tournament Information’, because that is what Dan requested. The site text is easily modifiable using <div>’s,  so he plans on just updating the page with new information when a new tournament is announced.
